Paul Lekakis Is Back With “I Need a Hit”

Paul Lekakis

Nearly 25 years ago Greek-American model Paul Lekakis was hired by Italian disco producers to be the face and voice of their creation “Boom Boom (Let’s Go Back To My Room).” It became a surprise pop hit around the world and landed in the top 10 of dance music sales in the US. A subsequent recording contract with Sire produced an album Tattoo It that generated one more top 20 dance hit “My House.”

It would have been anyone’s guess that Paul Lekakis was not much more than a footnote in dance music history. Despite his status of being HIV+, he went on to do acting projects and fitness work. Then a 20th anniversary remix of “Boom Boom” landed on the charts in 2007. That set the stage for a return of Paul Lekakis late last year with the song “I Need a Hit,” a collaboration with Massi and DeLeon. The accompanying video shows Lekakis still in great shape at age 44. “I Need a Hit” is currently a top 40 Billboard dance hit. Check out the video below.

The Legend That Is Cher Hits Her Sixth Decade Of #1s

Burlesque

It may be a bit hard to believe, but now Cherilyn Sarkisian, aka Cher, has now had #1 hits in six consecutive decades. It started with her husband Sonny in the 1960s and now she has gone to the top of at least one Billboard singles chart in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and now 2010s. It is dance music that has pushed her over the top. The song, “You Haven’t Seen the Last Of Me,” a fitting title for Cher, rolled to the top of the Dance Club Play chart just a few short weeks ago. In the most recent decades, dance music has kept Cher in the spotlight of music fans. She has scored eight #1 dance hits since “Believe” first hit the top back in 1998. Listen to the ageless Cher below.
